march through the streets of san jose. good evening, everyone. >> san jose san francisco and elsewhere, demonstrations have become a may day tradition. this is the big may day march that took place on the streets of los angeles. we have team coverage for you tonight. abc 7 news reporters nick nij and leslie brinkley are all live. let's go to sky 7 hd, live over a big rally at the civic center in san francisco. jonathan bloom begins our coverage using cell 7 technology. >> well, dan, you know the demonstration here at civic center plaza is kind of starting to break up at this point in time. we just heard a performance from a drum core, there are marching bands and speakers in english and spanish. speaking out on this day mai day about the fight for immigrant fights and fight for workers rights.

representatives of several labor unions including fdiu. >> at issue was a bill on n.committee that could overhaul immigration laws. and we're looking at video. you can see a lot of people gathering here in san francisco civic center plaza it's a fraction of what we saw just hours ago. after the march from 24th and mission streets made rits l.res -- it's way up here to city hall. it's been very, very nice weather here this afternoon in part contributed to a huge turnout. somewhere between 1,000 to 2,000 people. slowly gaining steam as it made its way up mission street and here to city hall. those people all peaceful, no problems here in san francisco. some people say while it will

three men accused of helping boston bombing suspect jahar tsarnaev appeared in court today. this is a photo two of of the men both seen here with jahar. the two men are charged with obstruction of justice and concealing and destroying evidence. they're accused of removing tsarnaev's lap top and a back back containing fire works. attorneys say they did not know anything about the bombing. >> as we've said from the beginning he assisted the fbi in this investigation is just shocked by the violence in boston as the rest of the community is. a third plan charged with

we have good news tonight heading into summer travel season. gas prices are lower than at this time last year. the triple a daily fuel gauge shows we're averaging $3.92 a gallon in san jose, higher in oakland. $3.93. in san francisco, it seems to take the top prize it's a good bit higher, $4.03 a gallon. what if there were a cheaper
